The Art In The City public vote is now open!

Newport Now has installed the work of eight local artists in the windows of empty buildings in Newport City centre, brightening up our streets and celebrating the creativity of our local talent.

We would now like to call on the public to decide which artist will receive the £500 prize.

The polls will be open from today until midnight, Friday 11th March 2016 and the winner will be announced at the end of March.

For your consideration:-

Rhys Webber, We Are Newport. Photography

Gerard Whyman, Street Scene 1. Line and watercolour

Mike McCombe, Bridge at Night. Photography

Chris Hanbury, From Market Town To City. Acrylic

Dennis Gardiner, Direction 5. Digital Artwork

Fi Jefferies, The City Lines. Ink

Marion Cheung, Toxic. Oil on Canvas, Vinyl Stencil, Computer Keyboard

Andrew Nawroski, The New Renaissance 1. Collage

The locations of each artwork can be found on the Art In The City facebook page (www.facebook.com/artnpt), the npt-art.uk blog and www.twitter.com/npt_art.

There are multiple ways you can vote:-

1. Leave a comment under your favourite piece on our facebook page or the npt-art.uk blog.
2. Tweet your favourite with the hash-tag #NPT_ART
3. Email your choice to barrie@npt-art.uk
4. Post your choice to Newport Now, 26 Skinner Street, Newport, NP20 1HB

If you vote via social media, feel free to post a selfie taken with your favourite!

Furthermore, we are hoping to display the work of all entrants at a location in the city centre in the near future. More news to follow on that.

We'd like to thank all the artists who submitted. The pieces were all excellent and we only wish we’d been able to secure more windows to display on - hopefully there will be chance to do something similar in the future.

We look forward to seeing your selections.

Barrie
